Why “Veillieu”?
This is more than heritage. It is a spiritual inheritance.
The name Veillieu honors my great-great-great-grandmother, a woman whose name carried through Louisiana soil and into spiritual memory.
In French, veille means “to keep vigil” or “to watch over.”
Veillieu is a remembering.
It is a name that holds the altar.
A name that protects the line.
A name that made it to me—and now to you.
